Drawing with self imposed restrictions on materials to speed the concept stage allowing for more artistic freedom. The resulting drawing strips down representation to two functional forms, tape / desire lines and charcoal / trees.
The land is the launch site of Brunel’s last major project the SS Great Eastern. A tragic story of reflected in its speedy demise as the world’s biggest ship broken up 31 years after its launch. The trees are drawn from the rivets holding the iron ship together the desire lines mocking the ships only success as that of laying transatlantic cables.
