Accessible via the national rail network and often maligned End of LinE seeks a sonic understanding through an ever expanding collection of sound explorations that in turn archive a turbulent period of time where a sense of belonging are notions most of us ask of ourselves and of our surroundings. Essentially End of LinE is a long form project that brings Landscape Architecture, Radio Transmissions and Narrative Environments somewhere close. A place where research, cultural geography and the politics of analysis merge, overlapping time periods whilst questioning the validity and heavily weighted practice of surveys with sonic mapping. The idea that roles can be switched between host and guest,, local visitor, native non-native, amateur professional. Staying as long as possible in site analysis building something and nothing until patterns emerge and another End of LinE is reached. In Charles Pears’ Bathing Buoy (1934) These rebellious swimmers are sounding the alarm. Listen uP! Is a play on a warning system taken from the End of the Pier, the world’s longest.. End of! The burnt out contents might reflect the missed warnings of the past fires, crashing boats and burst blood vesseled faces.
